The oil continues to flow out into the gulf for more than a month after BP's Horizon disaster. It's true that it was an accident and such a risk is expected of oil rig platforms, and such accidents have happened before, but this could have been prevented and is already the biggest oil spill in history; even bigger than the Exxon Valdez. Even if it could not have been prevented too much time has passed and too much ecological and even economic damage has already been done. BP as well as the government have been rather slow to act. The fishing industry of the gulf coast, has been ravaged and who knows for how long it will last? This is also a threat for the consumer, because seafood from the area as well as the water could be hazardous to health. This is once again a sign that humanity needs to take more care of the environment and has to seek alternative energy resources that are less harmful to the environment.
